Our Local Chapter

The Maryland Capital Chapter was chartered December 20, 1970, at the Maryland Inn in Annapolis, Maryland. Forty-seven charter members were installed by the Chesapeake Bay Charter Chapter (no longer an active chapter). Our Chapter has received numerous "Best Practices" awards, and is currently a Level III Best Practices Chapter. Additionally, for the 2018 - 2019 Chapter Year, we received the "Brilliance Unleashed Award" in recognition of our outstanding Best Practice submission for that Chapter Year; and, for the 2020-2021 Chapter Year, we received the "Reaching for the Stars Award" in further recognition of our outstanding submission. Each of these awards were "one-time" special awards for these years only.
A "Best Practices Chapter" is one that has demonstrated their commitment to ABWA's framework for managing and guiding the strategic direction and initiatives within the Association's Guidelines. A copy of our most recently completed Best Practice submission is available by contacting the Vice President.

You can learn more about the Membership Benefits available through the SBMEF on our Current Members page.
